History:
Neo-confucianism is a blend of three eastern philosophies - Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Philosophers around this time, blended ideas, ethics and principles to create a philosophy, belief system and code of ethics and behaviour that have become embedded into eastern culture, which still exists today.
Yi Hwang was the equivalent of Socrates of his time.
The understanding of neo-confucianism by Tae Kwon Do students is important as many of the ethics and values underpin our moral culture in martial arts.
